I was born into a big Italian family (on my mother’s side) and a boisterous Puerto Rican family (on my father’s side). I grew up in the colorful town of Green, Ohio with my two older brothers (who tease me mercilessly) and my younger twin brothers (who worship the ground on which I walk). We have always had numerous pets in our household with the animals ranging from the average dog, cat, and bunny to the more abnormal newt, duck, and turtle. By constantly being surrounded by family, friends, and pets, I am quite good with people and animals
When I was a child, I used to pretend that my room was the classroom and that my younger brothers and pets were my students. In high school, I found myself tutoring all of my friends after school on a variety of subjects. By the time I was a senior, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. After having student taught both preschool and kindergarten for my first co-hort experience, I know that I am definitely in the right major and cannot wait to graduate and have my own classroom! I am an associate teacher at a preschool for the summer before my senior year.
Most of my friends call me ‘Mother’ because I act more like a parent than a friend. I better articulate myself in writing than I do through speaking. I still think the best paper I have written was the last one I wrote for my AP English class, even though the paper required dissecting, analyzing, and interpreting poetry (my most feared element of an English class). I love watching Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Orange is the New Black, The Walking Dead, Arrow, and any Pixar movie. I am a huge Taylor Swift fan. My lung collapsed my first semester of college and I had surgery to repair it on Halloween (I was in the hospital ten days and have made a full recovery). I moved off campus mainly so I could have a cat. I play too many video games. And finally, I am a proud Darwin T. Turner Scholar at the University of Cincinnati.
